Call of Duty: Ghosts has been designed to incorporate Kinect voice commands.Eric Hirshberg, chief executive of Activision's game publishing arm, said in-game voice commands via Kinect "really excite us because of the level of responsiveness and detail".On Tuesday, Microsoft revealed that its next generation console, Xbox One, would be packaged with a second-generation edition of Kinect. The new camera-based technology is said to be so advanced that it can track eye movement and detect heart rate.Hirshberg told Venturebeat that Activision has "always made sure that we don't just use new technology for novelty's sake"."We always make sure that it makes the gameplay better. In this case, we think it will," he added.Activision offered the first look at Call of Duty: Ghosts during Microsoft's Xbox One presentation, when it confirmed that Xbox will receive timed-exclusive DLC for the game.It is not yet known whether Ghost will support the PS4 Eye camera's microphone.Hirshberg said he was unable to elaborate further. "You heard us reference the fact that the downloadable content will be available first on Xbox, which is something that we've had in the past. I don't have more announcements other than that except to say that we've had a great partnership with Microsoft".In the wake of the Xbox One reveal, critics and commentators have formed no consensus on the viability and appeal of the machine. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are a generation more powerful than today's high-end PCs, according to an Electronic Arts exec.Writing on LinkedIn, EA chief technology officer Rajat Teneja noted that the horsepower of current high-end PCs will be dwarved by Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles."Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have adopted electronics and an integrated systems-on-a-chip (soc) architecture that unleashes magnitudes more compute and graphics power than the current generation of consoles," Teneja wrote.On the comparison between current and next-gen consoles, Teneja believes the new consoles will perform 8-10 times better than the PS3 and Xbox 360."These architectures are a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the market and their unique design of the hardware, the underlying operating system and the live service layer create one of the most compelling platforms to reimagine game mechanics."Similarly, Avalanche Studios CTO Linus Blomberg said in March that the PlayStation 4's 8gb RAM will ensure it will "out-power most PCs for years to come."Xbox One was this week unveiled at an event in Washington. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Revolution DLC pack will be made available free on Xbox 360 this weekend. The pack will be made available free this weekend only. After that, those who downloaded the pack free will need to pay in order to continue accessing the content. The news comes via Activision social media manager Dan Amrich, who said this is the first time Activision has offered temporarily free DLC. Released in January, the Revolution DLC pack includes four new multiplayer maps, a new Zombies map and mode, as well as a new weapon in the Peacekeeper SMG. The latest Black Ops 2 DLC pack Uprising is now available for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Publisher Activision showcased Black Ops 2's successor Call of Duty: Ghosts at the Xbox One unveiling earlier this week. Read our in-depth preview.

Microsoft brushed off a dubious hacker's claim on Thursday that he stole 47 million account credentials for Microsoft's Xbox Live gaming service. The hacker, who goes by the Twitter handle "@Reckz0r," wrote on Pastebin that Microsoft stored the login credentials in plain text. The data included email addresses and passwords, he added. The alleged breach comes just days after Microsoft unveiled the Xbox One, the latest iteration of the gaming system. "Xbox Live has not been hacked," the company said in a statement. "Microsoft can confirm that there has been no breach to the security of our Xbox Live service." In a lengthy note on Pastebin, drenched in profanity, Reckz0r wrote "Microsoft is a pest to humanity." He included a link to a 6GB file of the credentials and posted hundreds more in plain text, some of which he wrote dated to around 2009. The newer accounts were contained in the 6GB file, he wrote. Reckz0r has a track record of posting old data. Last June, he posted a link on Pastebin to a data dump, writing on Twitter that he had "penetrated over 79 large banks" and obtained 50GB of data on MasterCard and Visa cardholders. A payment card industry source said at the time the data appeared to be old. One person whose data was released told IDG News Service that the information attached to his name was years out of date.
