Therefore your argument is invalid.
I drive trucks to work, not my car, i would never have a manual in a work truck. These are two different things.
I also do a fair bit more than drive my car in a straight line for 1320' so a purpose built automatic (dont even try to argue that a built slusher is good for anything else) is pointless IMO.
Closest to perfection youll ever get with an auto IMO would be the 6spd from a SHO with a manual valve body and some ugraded clutch packs.

I could cruise at 70 down the highway at 2200 rpm in second gear no problem. I much more prefer an auto in a classic. I will agree that average auto's are horrible considering that the AOD4 I had my first 302 bolted to in my F150 only lasted 5,000 miles. So I'll reword my opinion. I like both, I've owned both in different cars (man. Camaro, Man. Mustang, auto Mustang, and two auto trucks) and for classic I prefer Auto. I would have never put a powerglide in my 95 Mustang or in my Camaro. I would also never bolt the T5 behind the build 302 I had in my Mustang. So I guess it varies between good or bad depending on the car.

Thanks: 684 | | | Re: Know Anything About Cars? If I see an offer that's too good to be true, I go and inspect it myself. Like looking around for defects or anything. Just Snoop around. If he/she will let you, test drive it or listen to the motor run for a while. I did all of that and got this smokin' deal on my 72 beetle (Being Restored as I type ). Follow your gut though. And stay in your price range.

Thanks: 868 | | | Re: Know Anything About Cars? also you can never beat seeing the car in person. go check it out. look for rust underneath the car, in the trunk, underneath the trunk, by the back window. whenever a car has rust people refer to it as cancer because if you dont take it out it just keeps spreading. try not to buy a car with rust and if it has rust holes in my book thats a no. also check the weather stripping/seals. imo a good restoration usually has brand new weather stripping and seals as well as window felts.
youre never going to find a perfect classic car imo as there will always be something to do. and im not saying theyre not reliable , as my chevelle after i got a couple things fixed was as reliable as any other current car. but there always be little things like emblems etc etc

OT: Like stated, go check it out and see for yourself. Since you don't know anything about cars bring a mechanic if you know one.

Thanks: 373 | | | Re: Know Anything About Cars? I wouldn't buy it. All you are going to be doing is investing in someone elses problems. If you want a classic car buy a project and restore it yourself. Plus if you're getting this for a DD don't do it.
