| | | Re: Getting caught modifying Skyrim look if you mod skyrim to obtain achievements or alter ANY other aspect of your gamer profile you WILL be banned not sure if there are limits to modding the physical GAME but if you go screwing around with achievements and what not (things that show on your dashboard) you ARE violating Terms of Service and can very well be banned forcing you to open a new account using a new E-mail | | | | |

Thanks: 1,373 | | | Re: Getting caught modifying Skyrim If it's save games, you'll be fine.
If it's achievements, you'll more than likely get reset or banned.
If you want to mod Skyrim, just get it for PC..

Thanks: 1,700 | | | Re: Getting caught modifying Skyrim I dont see how there could be a consequence, trust me they arent going to care about a singleplayer game, just dont mod achievements directly and you'll be fine

Thanks: 14 | | | Re: Getting caught modifying Skyrim I really doubt they'll chase you after you modded a save, the PC-version of Skyrim is one big mod-tool itself..

no no no...they wouldn't ban you unless you modded the save to unlock achievements. you clearly did something else other then mod skyrim. Quote:

You shouldn't get a ban otherwise unless you put it on cloud. And thats for pc version ElderScrolls. Modifing the files goes against ToS so they can still ban you. | i lol'd at this..they can't prevent you from playing a game, especially a game that has NO multiplayer -_-

| | | Re: Getting caught modifying Skyrim Here's a little history to my upcoming question. I'm on the Xbox 360 version of this game.
I have obtained the Elder Scroll before I was given the "Elder Knowledge" quest (Thanks to the lexicon quest). Now, I'm attempting to use the scroll at the time wound and it will not do anything. I read this in a wiki: Obtaining the Elder Scroll before having to find it before the quest Elder Knowledge breaks the main storyline. There is no known fix besides reloading an old save.
I stopped the main quest line many many hours ago, did a lot of side quests, and am now coming back to the main quest. The dragon said in order to get dragonrend, I must have the elder scroll (Which I already had from that quest). When I open the scroll as I said earlier, nothing happens.
I have the achievement for "Elder Knowledge" unlocked, I'm on the quest "Alduins Bane" however I can't proceed since the quest is glitched.
Now, my question is, if I copy my game save to the PC, open it in the PC version of the game and use the console command to set that quest to completed or at least to advance me to the part where I go back in time (stage 20)? Save, then load it on the Xbox, complete the quest and get the achievement?
Would MS consider this cheating and ban me? I don't see it as cheating as I'm trying to get around a glitch.

I have fixed so many bugs within the game from being able to mod, and have expanded castles, and even created huge areas. THEY WILL NEVER BAN FOR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.
You unlocked the achievement legitimately, as it popped up on your Xbox, and it wasn't unlocked from you just signing into LIVE.

I'm just wondering if this would be considered cheating if I moved the stage up? And, would this even work?
