- How to turn your Laptop into a Wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 -

So, you want to connect your Xbox 360 to the Internet? But its too far away from your router/modem, and you don't want to fork out a stupidly large amount of money on buying a wireless adapter to plug into the back of your Xbox... well here is a cheap and easy way to connect your Xbox 360 to the Internet through your Laptop!

There are two methods you can use!
1) Bridging the connections
2) ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)

Method One: Bridging the connections

Requirements:
-Xbox 360.
-Ethernet Cable.
-Laptop with built-in wireless adapter.
-Home Wireless Internet.

Instructions:

:Step One:
Firstly switch off your Xbox, Laptop and Router/Modem. 
Connect your Xbox to your Laptop via the Ethernet cable 
(I don't think it matters which type of Ethernet cable you use). 
One end goes into the back of the Xbox and -
the other goes into the back/side of your Laptop
:Step Two - Laptop:
Start your laptop up and follow these tutorials.

Windows Vista/7:
Press start and type ncpa.cpl in the search bar and hit enter.
then continue following the XP tut below.

Windows XP:
On the task-bar at the bottom, Click Start>Control Panel>Network Connections.
 Now there are two connections that you need to worry about. 
One should be the connection to the Internet
 (If your laptop has wireless capability then it will be called something like 
"Wireless Network Connection") and the other should be a local area connection.
 Highlight both of these by dragging your mouse over them or by Ctrl + Click.
 Right click and there should be a choice there called "Bridge Connections". 
This should take a few moments while Windows sets everything up.
:Step Three - Xbox:
Once the bridge has been finished try switching on your Xbox and see if you can connect to xbox live. 
If you are having problems then try clicking "Repair Connection" on your laptop
 by clicking the right mouse button on your bridged connection. 
If this still doesn't fix the problem, Try restarting everything (Laptop, Xbox and Router) 
and see if it works then. To try and diagnose the problem, and potentially fix it,
 go to network settings on your Xbox and Test the Internet Connection.

Method Two: ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)

Requirements:
-Xbox 360.
-Ethernet Cable.
-Laptop with built-in wireless adapter.
-Home Wireless Internet.

Instructions:


:Step One:
Find an Ethernet cable. It can be any Ethernet cable. 
The Xbox 360 automatically does a cross-over process
 so you don't need a special cable.
 Plug one end directly to your Xbox 360 and plug the other into the PC/Laptop,
 Almost every PC has one of these.
 If you have both your PC and Xbox 360 on,
 you will see a green light on the PC connector and possibly an orange (data) flashing light. 
This means the connection is working.

:Step Two - Laptop/PC:

Windows Vista/7:
Press start and type ncpa.cpl in the search bar and hit enter,
 then continue following the XP tut below.

Windows XP:
Use your PC,go to Start, Control Panel. 
Right click the wireless connection and go to its properties window.
 Click the Advanced tab and go to the "Internet Connection Sharing" section.
 Check the top box, uncheck the bottom box. 
Then click ok. You have finished setting up the PC.
:Step Three - Xbox:
Go to System Settings, Network settings and then press "Test Xbox LIVE Connection".
 Everything should pass if set up correctly. 
The PC should say that it found a local area connection. 
Your internet on your PC should also work. 
f none of these work, something was probably not set up right. 
Go back and double check your settings and steps and keep retrying until it works.

This is information gathered from several different sources, I have made this because many people, (who for some reason can't use Google), have been wondering how to do this and don't want to spend $100 on some crap adapter.
I haven't seen any other tutorials like this so forgive me if there is.
