Are you interested in posting a tutorial here on XboxMB? Well here is a quick write up of the content that should be included in your tutorials. Remember, your tutorial does not have to have everything listed below, but make sure to follow this format to make a good and easy-to-follow tutorial.
TITLE
Be very descriptive in your title. "Xbox Tutorial" doesn't cut it. Remember to only mention the important details in your title. "How to Install Flashing Blue LED's In Your HDD on Your Xbox 360 (EASY TUTORIAL ONLY TOOK ME 20 MIN!)" is overkill. "How To Install LED's In Your HDD" would be a perfect title.
DETAILS
Before beginning your tutorial, give a short description about what you will be doing. This is the time to list any important details. Although your title should be obvious enough, tell the members what the tutorial is about.
WHAT YOU NEED
Be sure to list ALL of the requirements carefully. Even if you think that everyone should have one and it should be obvious to use one, list the item first. Following a tutorial and realizing that you cannot complete it because you don't have one of the requirements is the last thing you want to do. Just make sure you have an organized and descriptive list.
You can use this BB Code to create a list:
HTML Code:
[LIST][*] 1st Item[*] 2nd Item[*] 3rd Item[/LIST]
Which turns into this:
- 1st Item
- 2nd Item
- 3rd Item
STEPS
If you write your tutorial step-by-step, it makes it easier to follow. Period. This helps organize your tutorial as well. Again, be descriptive. I cannot stress this enough. Remember to include all the steps too. Leave no gaps in your tutorial.
MORE TIPS AND GUIDELINES
Here is a list of things to consider when posting a tutorial.
- Give Proper Credit - Didn't write the tutorial? Give credit. If you don't, that is plagiarism. You might seem like a helpful member when you first post the tutorial, but it will come back and bite you in the end.
- Grammar/Spelling - We speak English on XboxMB so please spell to the best of your ability. Make sure to have complete sentences and correct grammar. For example, do not write "R" instead of "are", or "U" for "you". Also know the difference between they're, their, and there.
- Pictures - Sometimes words just cannot describe the tutorial well enough. Using pictures in your tutorial helps the member see what needs to be done.
- Rules of the Forum - Remember that all tutorials must follow the rules of the forum as well. To review the rules Click Here.
