Default [How to] Install L.E.D's in Your Xbox 360.

This quick tutorial is just how to put them on your HDD, if you want to do it in case - case modding etc hook the LED's up to your 12v mod if you have done one - I believe that's how its done, correct me if I'm wrong.

Things you need:
  • LED's of your choice (will be the color}
  • Wire
  • Hot glue gun
  • A Soldering Iron
  • Solder

Step 1: Take apart the HDD

Step 2: Take out the HDD cables

Step 3: The wires we will be modifying are the yellow and black cables

Step 4: Strip a small section of the Yellow (5v) and Black (Ground) wire

Step 5: Solder all the leds to the wires you have.

Step 6: Solder a wire to the Yellow and Black wire and hot glue it to the side of the case.

Step 7: Hot glue all the leds in the spots you would like them to be.

Step 8: Solder all the wires and leds together. Make sure that each led is attached to a wire coming from the yellow wire, and the other part of the led coming from the black wire. then reassemble your case.

credits to the creator of the tut ~ followed it myself was easy to follow

Nice! Will the LEDs blink with the HDD activity?

Well they flicker a little if im downloading stuff sooo ya

on jtag using an option in freestyle dash you can make the Led colours change depending on the temperature of the xbox providing you have the different coloured leds haha takes effort but looks 1337 ;D

its on se7, Also you could cut a little hole in the part on the 360 case where the hdd goes on and a hole in the hdd case and could wire those LEDs to the inside of the 360 instead of using the dvd drive power

i am an apprentice sparkie, i know a little about this stuff. Someone said something about it blinking with hard drive activity. In theory it will IF the two cables used are the active and neutral of the hdd data transfer. I havent read the circuitry of the xbox cuz only and idiot would do that some im making this next park up basicly(what each wire doesn anyway). so lets say one is power active and power neutral (i dont know which ones) connect led neutral and active to power active and neutral and it shouldnt blink. connect to the data on the other hand it will cuz the voltage changes according to the data transfering.

all of that was confusing to explain but hey read it a few times.
