I got a new xbox 360 and tried to transfer the data without the ms trasfer cable...
At first I hooked up the old 120gb hd using a sata to usb cable, but it wouldnt allow me to access it without formatting it so I switched it around and put the old 120gb hd in the xbox and hooked up the new 250gb hd to the sata-usb cable... it did the same but being as it was a new hd i figured I'll lose nothing formating it ... and i did so... I eventually got it to read and transferred the data plugged it out and then put it back in the xbox... now my xbox doesn't recognize my 250gb hd at all!

can someone please point me in the right direction as to what I need to do to get back the 250gb hd working and also a method to get the files off it ( the 250gb ) and get the files to transfer properly.

Well kind of a late reply but i didnt notice your post until just now. Do you have an actual Microsoft HDD? Is it for a Slim or is it a a Fat HDD? If its not an actual Microsoft HDD then it will say something like "For use with xbox 360" And will not say Microsoft on it. Make sure because they look exactly the same.

If its not an actual microsoft Hdd it more than likely needs to be reflashed with HDDHackr, ive had to do this to 2 of my HDDs.

Check that and let me know.

has the serial number and everything

Re-format it using Fatx ... it should read...correct me on the type of formatting if I'm wrong

I would say to try to format it and go at it again.

This happen to me before just formated it.
