Default How to tell if a KV is good or bad.

These are the basic steps to telling whether a keyvault is good or bad. This however does NOT determine whether a keyvault is banned or not

For this you will need:

Hex editor
And a keyvault lol

1.First off make sure the kv is along the lines of Kv_dec.bin it can be diffrent but as long as it has .bin at the end its ok. Also if it is 16.0KB



2.Once you have your kv open it up in Your favorite Hex Editor i am using Hxd



3.Once opened make sure there is 7 lines that are empty in the very beginning if it dosent have this right off the bat it is fake.



4. Make sure there is a large space in the kv it should separate two paragraphs





5.Make sure at the end it says Signature Cerification and certificatecollection at the end and there is a space at the very end with no writing at the bottom after the space.



Now i heard there is also a program called "Keyvaults modder" which can determine this as well, but because im old school ;D i prefer checking this way ^_^

That data can be faked, if you really want to know if it is a valid keyvault, load the kv in one of those content package signers and check if the file you resigned is valid on the Xbox 360 or verify the signature using the console cert's modulus and exponent.

Never knew it could be faked o,o ima try and figure out how to do what you said, guess ya learn a new thing everyday thanks

i heard of this way to but now that i see it can be faked it wouldnt be hard to type in the dots and all of that to fool people

Or you could inject the kv into an image in 360 flash tool + re-open the created image, you would also get information on that kv too..

unknown/cheater, you'll know this... all these resigners we use, what is done to the kv's that come with them, surely they aren't raw kvs, if we have a kv we need to test to see if it's banned or not, couldn't we make said kv work with a resigner, resign a save using that kv + test to see if it worked on a retail console on live?

if it was banned it would show up as corrupt, if not it would simply work?
