RRoD was caused by overheating. Newer processors run cooler like I previously said.
PS3 had a price premium because of Blu-ray being new technology and expensive at the time. Which I also previously addressed by saying the technology is much cheaper now.
Thanks to Apple releasing a crazy resolution on the iPad over the next 18 months we will have a resolution jump and a new standard according to Intel. From the end of this year, Ultrabooks will start shipping with a minimum of 2K resolution. Now if a 13" laptop can have 2K resolution, I'll sure as hell expect it on next generation consoles and so will a lot of people.
