Default Activision pays $42 million to Infinity Ward Employee Group

Quote:
Activision has paid out $42 million to the "Infinity Ward Employee Group," which sued Activision in 2010 seeking profits from Modern Warfare 2. A source speaking to Polygon said that the payment was not a settlement; rather, Activision's discovery phase (for its own lawsuit against former Infinity Ward leads Jason West and Vince Zampella) found no evidence that the Employee Group members were complicit in the breach-of-contract issues for which Activision is suing, and so Bobby Kotick and Activision agreed to pay them. That group sought $75 million to $125 million, plus punitive damages. IWEG attorney Bruce Isaacs told Polygon that "although it is a meaningful payment it is only a small portion of what we are seeking in litigation." And it is still going forward with said litigation. Isaacs said the payment was a "cynical attempt to look good before the jury trial."

Why do they need more than that? Grown adults should not be fighting over video games for millions of dollars. I hope they all end up poor with nothing so they really see how valuable money is. I'd be more than happy with 42 million. Considering if spent right 3 million can last you the rest of your life, comfortably.

But Cody, after taxes, it's only like 20 million. That's like, nothing!

My reaction to this news (the laughter).

Can't wait for them to get more of the money they deserve. FU Activision.

The amount of greed in this world is not even funny anymore. I would of told them to **** off because no matter how much money a person makes they always want more. Who sues over video games. It's like people are looking for any little excuse to sue and get money.

So if you did all the work on a game that made well over a Billion dollars, you would take 42million(of course theirs taxes and you have to split it with the others) and allow Activision(who just publishes/funds the project) to keep almost all the profits?

Activision agreed to pay the "x" amount, and they should get paid that. Its not being greedy, its what they both agreed upon. The only ones being greedy is Activision for not paying them.

You could live conformable with 3Million, but with 100Million you and your family could live extravagantly.
