Just in time for the upcoming holiday rush, Microsoft has posted news of a new accessory pack, which will wrap up almost everything you need to accompany a new Xbox 360 into one $79.99 kit. The Xbox 360 Essentials pack will include a wireless controller, a media remote, an HDMI cable, and a three-month Xbox Live Gold membership.Microsoft says you can save a full $55 by buying these items in the pack rather than separately, which does make us wonder where exactly they're shopping. But if you're giving a 360 this year (or know someone who's getting one and could use some extra gear), this might make a nice package under the celebratory symbol of your respective holiday.

All together separately they are $74.61. From amazon.co.uk from gbp=usd. soo its not essential to buy this pack but to buy it individually, or just get it second hand for 3x less.

Standard xbox 360 controller : £19.43
3 Month sub = £14.19 (less on super savings / direct payment from xbl)
Remote = £14.97
HMDI from ebay or store = £3=£10 depends on the quality, cheapest work fine.

SO buyt all this **** second hand, and get your essential savings!!!

There going by there prices of the stuff new. A wireless controller is $50, the HDMI cable from Microsoft is $40, the remote is $20 and three month is $25.

They should think about selling official rechargeable battery packs in the UK (I know prices are in USD but I assume this will be a worldwide pack) instead of crappy accessories packs. Microsoft sell a recharge station which supports two rechargeable battery packs but only comes with one and you can't buy them separately.

Either way, this deal is terrible. I can get a new controller for £16, 3 months of gold for £13, who the **** wants a media remote and the Xbox should provide HDMI anyway instead of being cheap though you can pick one up for like £2 on Amazon.

Price of crappy pack: £60 converted to GBP.
Price separately: £31 without media remote or £40 with media remote.

I agree with who ever wrote this article. Where are Microsoft shopping?

wait that is not a Microsoft HDMI cable. ya it is cheaper to be smart but isn't the Microsoft one $40 or maybe around $30-$35 on amazon?
