The next Xbox's rumoured move to block used games would be "a fantastic change for our business," says Volition designer Jameson Durall.Writing via the AltDevBlog, the Red Faction: Armageddon man claims the general public don't appreciate how much pre-owned game sales are hurting developers, and welcomes rumours that the Xbox 720 could introduce a platform-wide online pass system - throttling the pre-owned market."There's another big rumor about the next Xbox console that could really start to shake things up... it won't play used games at all," Durall writes."Personally I think this would be a fantastic change for our business and even though the consumers would be up in arms about it at first... they will grow to understand why and that it won't kill them."He adds: "The system is already there for Microsoft, all they'd have to do is use the DLC and codes model they have to tie a game to your Xbox live account.

Maybe they should just make a game that isn't horrible then they wouldn't have as many of pre owned copies left to be purchased.

I still don't understand how Pre owned games "Hurt" the Devs. They still got there cut regardless, the game was sold at new at one point.

More like they just DON'T want people to buy pre owned games so they can keep making money >_>

But on the plus side we can own the game for life, like buying a game off of steam it is yours forever.
I would not mine to buy my games off Xbox Live so I do not need a disc.

Hate those games anyway. Only buy them for the campaign then I trade them in.

They would have to make it like an online pass but the pass allows you to play the game not just online features, but then offline users would be screwed.

Maybe the discs have a thing that matches with the first console its played on and locks to it?
