Last month, Activision got a hold of the domain name, blackops2.com, fueling sepculation that this year’s Call of Duty will be a direct sequel to Treyarch’s Black Ops. Since then, Activision did announce that there will be a new Call of Duty in 2012, promising that it will be bring “meaningful innovation” to the franchise.

Yesterday, french gaming site, gameblog, spotted a product listing on Amazon France titled ‘Black Ops 2′. Subsequently, the retailer pulled the product page; however, Gameblog was able to check the Google cache of the page to confirm the name of the next Call of Duty. This story was picked up by several french sites that were contacted by Activision France to take down their articles. While some sites complied, Gameblog stood its ground, which led Activision to blacklist the website, disinviting them from an upcoming Transformers event and cancelling scheduled Activision ad campaigns on the site.

In terms of sales, Modern Warfare 3 had a stronger launch that Black Ops, but MW3 failed to match Treyarch’s title January NDP numbers (North America only). Activision Publishing CEO responded to the numbers, stating that Modern Warfare 3′s sales were front-loaded.

They better up the graphics and take out the money system. If Treyarch does that they could make an amazing game.

really wish they made WWII games again World at War was by far the best cod there was. if it wasnt so messed up now i would play it over any other one right now. maps were perfect and so were the weapons. only thing that sucked was knifing but whatever haha

Yeah I don't like how on World at War if you didn't have the maps it would put you in a game that was a downloaded map then you got kicked. And there was even a playlist for the map packs. Then you have all the hackers that ruin the game. I mean I don't care if they hack their stats or whatnot but to put on god mode while online is just annoying. I never did that, if I have god mode I just play zombies and mess around on that. Then when I'm going to play online I dashboard.

I miss having the glitches we had in WaW. Like getting under the map and stuff on castle, boy does that bring back memory's </3

yeah that was a big problem was the map packs. but i always stayed up for them. that game had the best dlc for all the cods. maps were just perfect. and the gay kids thinking theyre cool with god mode and no cip even tho they just joined some game is what pisses me off. i wouldn't care if it were like a couple people but EVERYONE has it.

well .... thinking a sequel to that game was a good idea was their first mistake .

They've already stated a while ago that this was a sequel to Black Ops, they were just trying to secure the domain name. The only new news here is the the latter.
