Lightbulb How to have better quality [THEORY]

Well i had this idea while in theater... What if when recording a clip, you were to record it entirely in slow-mow, then when you edited, you sped it back to normal speed? Wouldn't this create more frames per second, thus making your video have better quality? Please comment your thoughts.

The frame rate of your video doesn't affect the quality of your video. This method would also be complicated.

Interesting theory, I would have to try it. But keeping it in slow-mow would be kinda annoying. Why go through all of this when you could just record the game?

If you record at 60 fps and render at 60 fps, you're at the max.
Anything above that would speed up and deteriorate. 60 FPS is the happy medium.

Wrong, the framerate does affect your quality.

Oh, I thought that if you were to record in slow-mo you would have more fps when you sped it up and what if you render at more than 60 fps?

I never knew that, thanks for telling me. New render settings, here I come.

This is old news to people who play games on the PC (etc COD4/CSS mainly). Its called the FRAPS technique. Because fraps only really records at 60fps (same as Console) it sucks. reduced quality etc. But if you set timescale 0.01 or in this case, barely pull in the trigger and press Back x2 really fast to lock it in then start recording at 60fps in slow-mo. Then speed it back up to ~200fps in Virtual Dub. It will give you much better quality. Being though lets say for example that you are in a car going 60mph and quickly pass a kid with something on his shirt (without staring at it before the pass) you won't be able to read it. It will be blury and degraded if you were to look at it like a picture. But go at ~1mph you will be able to see clear as day. Then fast forward it back to normal speed you get the clarity with more fps.

check tek-9 for more info.

I don't have much to say on this (except nice post ) but to lock in the timescale in theater all you have to do is get to the timescale you want and press the back button and you can let go of the trigger. Now that's completely off-topic, as the question has been answered.

I do not think this will work, but I could be wrong.

You pretty much just destroyed everything I thought that I knew about frame rate, now it all makes sense! I guess it's not better quality, but more time to see what's going on, and less blur in between frames? Hopefully I nailed it, I don't want to go into Sony Vegas to edit my old render settings just yet.
