Default Start Black Ops on Veteran Level?

Is it possible to start directly on Veteran level in Black Ops?

And if you wanna get good on this game is it better to start on a lower level and learn gradually?

Yes, when choosing to play the first mission, you can choose your difficulty.

Well you may be able to go into options> game type> veteran.

Not too sure though. Just start a new game and then go through the intro and select veteran difficulty.

*Also* You can change it in-game. Go to start> difficulty> veteran.

Thanks, Uzi

You should play it on recruit difficulty first to give you an indication of the levels, tasks and to pick up some intel. It will help you when you come to do it on veteran.

Knowing the level really helps when your on veteran as you will need to use cover a lot, taking a wrong turn will just get you killed.

I have attempted Infinity Ward's Veteran Mode and it's impossible to complete. Never done it in the end. But I have completed Call of Duty 4's Mile High Club level. It's the hardest thing you'll ever attempt. I spent hours, days, weeks trying to complete for 10G Gamerscore which isn't really enough gamerscore, maybe they should have gave around 50G for that mission.
