I have a really crappy computer, and I want to make it faster. I've googled it and used many of the programs I found with google. I am just wondering if anyone knows any other ways to speed up a windows 7 PC.

1. Dont download crappy programs and fill it with junk.
2. Download Norton 360 v5 or 6 and do a registry clean-up.
3. Run start up manager in Norton, Turn everything off. Open as you want them
4. Do a disk defrag (Slight help)
5. Failing the last parts do a clean install of Windows 7.

Easiest way is to just upgrade your computer!

Download CC Cleaner(which you've probably done already) and clean it up with that.
You could get better RAM as well.

Ram may work. But you may or mayn't be maxed on what's compatible with your system. Ie, it systems only like up to about 4GB ram (Cant remember exact figure)

Depends on your motherboard, A CPU upgrade might be a good option.
Again, Depends on motherboard and your current OS (32/64bit) Ram might be the way to go.
If your Running 32Bit, and OS upgrade maybe the best option.

2. Open and install speccy by following the steps provided.

yah youre not going to gain much performance unless you upgrade your pc for example if your processor is an old single core, if you have less than 1gb of ram, your graphics card. get an ssd.

but what it sounds like is you have at least win7 so id say look at your cpu and if you dont have a decent one start there if your mobo socket is compatible with any new ones then ram and an ssd

Telling him to download Norton is probably the worst thing you could do and to top it off, it's just downright Darius..

Why, Newer Norton 360's are very very efficient and use little CPU and memory power. I use it everyday, Keeps my computer clean and functional.

But i said post his specs so if required i can advise him otherwise. For all i know he has a computer with a dual core 2ghz and 6gb ram. Which will definitely be ok for downloading and running it. If you haven't done a proper registry clean up in over 12 months you registry will be full of crap and slow the pc down BIG time.

But, we cant do anything untill we know his system.
